This bronze part buddha is held on a metal stem set in a wooden base.

The earliest representations of Buddha were of parts of the body only, i.e a hand or a foot. The inclusion of a face was a latter development. This incomplete casting of Buddha would seem to be a modified reflection of the earlier tradition.
